Flowers are a terrific choice for Mother’s Day and many other gifting occasions. It’s quick, easy and convenient to send flowers and last minute shopping is generally not a problem. Here are a couple of helpful hints to make sure that the flowers you send this Mother’s Day make a loving and lasting impression.
- 1. Choose something special – maybe something that has a special significance to Mom. My Mom was really not an avid gardener, but she had a spectacular bed of irises outside the kitchen window of my childhood home. For as long as I can remember, irises always make me think of her and if I buy some for her, she know’s exactly why I’ve selected them.
- 2. We are apparently gearing up for a particularly difficult allergy season, so if Mom is at all allergy prone, opt for something without a heavy fragrance or excessive pollen like irises, orchids or tulips. Tropical blooms like birds of paradise and ginger also are without much scent.
- 3. If Mom has a lot of beautiful glassware and vases, don’t bother with the vase. It’s really a waste of money and space for most people. Just go for the flowers.
- 4. Fresher is better. Nothing beats flowers shipped directly from the grower.
- 5. If you opt for an arrangement of mixed blooms, design your own with Mom’s favorite colors and flowers as a theme or choose one that features her favorites.
- 6. This is an important day and one of the biggest flower delivery events of the year. You want the best. Try not to wait until the day before and hope you find something decent. For the fullest possible selection and highest possible quality, place your order a week in advance. Especially if you are planning on sending something exotic or want something shipped directly from the grower.
- 7. Never fear if you find yourself shopping at the last minute. You’ll be able to find next day and even same day delivery if you get caught in a time crunch. You may not have as many choices, but you will be able to send something fresh and fabulous.
