Even though most offices have gone business casual at least part of the time, ties are still a frequent fact of life for men. For many men a tie represents his only way to express his own sense of style - or that of his wife or girlfriend or daughter. Some people think ties are a cliche and a terrible gift. I could not disagree more strongly.
I gave my grandfather an Armani tie at least 20 years ago. I was working retail at a department store at the time and got it with my discount. He could not believe I bought him such a beautiful and luxurious gift. All these years later, he still wears that tie on special occassions.
