Where have all my containers gone? I know I don’t eat them. I’m pretty sure I don’t throw them away. It’s not like they can make an escape on their own. I must admit I have quite a few lids. But I’m down to only a couple of storage containers – none of which has a matching lid. I was into the disposables for a while – and must admit that I find them quite handy for sending my guests home with leftovers. But they don’t have much of a lifespan. I’m returning to my roots – Tupperware.com

All that time you spend cleaning and your house can look clean; but it may not be as clean as you think. Dust, mold and pollen can be all around the house and you might never know it. As the weather is cooling and we start to open the windows, we let in all kinds of small particles. Once we close the windows for winter, those particles stay behind in the air we breathe and can trigger allergies or, even worse, illness.
The best solution – clean air. That’s how you know your home is exactly as clean as it looks. Don’t forget to have your heating system cleaned and serviced. It’s also a really good idea to have your ductwork cleaned every couple of years. You can even add an allergen trapping filter to your furnace or opt for a complete air filtering unit. Either way – a small investment now can lead to a much healthier winter.

Okay, I admit it. I’m a bit of a diva princess. I like fresh, crisp bed linens like in a hotel. And I like a nice pressed seam down the front of my jeans, too. Like I said – diva princess. I used to send all those things out to be professionally laundered, starched and pressed. I found it terribly expensive and over time it became clear that my clothes and linens were being subjected to some serious rough treatment. So I started doing it myself. And frankly, I’m tired of it. It takes way too long and while I used to find it relaxing I now find myself avoiding it at all costs. What am I going to do? Well, I’m certainly not going to return to spending over $100 a month to have it done for me. I’m going to bite the bullet and buy myself a serious steam press. I figure I’ll save myself several hours a week minimum.

I was at a party last weekend and a friend of mine came out with the following statement: I don’t have any pets, but I think I might be ready for a Roomba. How funny is that? I was in stitches! It seems like it’s been raining for 40 days and 40 nights and I’m feeling a bit like Noah. There’s standing water in the street, huge puddles and pools of water in other low spots and the ground is soggy, soggy, soggy. We’ve had crazy rains here in Chicago this summer. Lots of people have had water in their basements – including me. What have I learned from this experience? Several things – I have learned that I need to have some water proofing work done on my foundation.
