I’m here in the heart of apple country – Oregon. I attended a harvest market last week and tomorrow I plan on going again. They’re famous for a lot more than the apples here, of course, but it was the apples that really rocked my world.
There must have been at least 30 varieties of local apples from which to choose. Loads of ’boutique’ varieties from local growers. And lots of free samples! The tasting almost made it harder to choose, but since I knew I’d be able to go back again, I felt a little less pressure. My current favorite is the Hidden Rose – a small apple with light green skin, pink fruit and a sweet yet tangy taste. Like a Grannie Smith with honey. YUM! And it didn’t stop at apples. That was just the beginning! There were pears galore. Local wines. Smoked salmon. And lots more.

Everybody I know is going Wii crazy these days. And I’ve hopped on the bandwagon. I was lucky enough to be invited to a few Wii marathons with friends and all I can say is Wii Wow! How fun! And what a great way to exercise, too. The Wii Fit is awesome. And the Wii sports. And the games. What a blast.
The weird thing is that you’d think that the infamous Wii Christmas shortage would be over by know – but it’s not. Game console systems can still be hard to find. And so can some of the accessories and games. I’ve been surfing like crazy and cannot report any place (other than eBay
) where you can simply order a console that’s in stock and have it shipped right away. I have found a terrific source for games and accessories in GameStop.com

Duncan is graduating from 8th grade and big plans are in the works. In and among what I’m sure will be a week long celebration, she and I are going to see Wicked! I’m not sure which one of us is more excited.
Like always, I kind of waited until the last minute to take care of the ticket thing. By the time we decided on the day we wanted to go and I finally got around to shopping there were ZERO seats available at the box office or through Ticketmaster. I must admit I was a bit panicked. No worries, though. I found a great selection of excellent seats at WeHaveSeats.com

for far less then I was afraid I’d have to pay.

I’m not sure why I like Pocky so much. Maybe it’s because I actually lived in Japan as a little kid back in the 60’s when Pocky was first introduced. Maybe I saw an ad and was mesmerised as a three year old and hypnotised into loving Pocky. Who knows? Maybe I just tried it back then, loved it and have been addicted ever since!
It was actually called Chocoteck back then. The name was changed after a couple of years to Pocky – to honor the crunchy munchy sounds they make when eaten. It’s funny – sometimes I see Pocky everywhere I go – at Walgreens, 7-Eleven even the corner store. Never the new or more exotic flavors, of course. But enough to satisfy a serious Pocky craving.
And other times it’s just nowhere – except AsianFoodGrocer.com
. In ALL possible flavors. Even new flavors that can be really hard to find here in the States. And you can even buy large boxes of single Pocky packs – perfect for munching and crunching with a cup of coffee. I’ve been known to carry them in my purse – just in case I have a Pocky emergency.

With the spring gardening well underway and the summer outdoor entertaining season about to hit full swing, many of us are busily sprucing up our outdoor spaces. One way to add a lot of punch to your garden is a fountain or water feature. The problem is that a really nice water feature can be difficult to find. Unless you know where to shop. For a HUGE selection of unique and beautiful fountains don’t even bother to take a trip to your local garden center – shop the specialists. GardenFountains.com. In this case, it’s all in the name. Fountains are what they do best.
I’m currently enamored of this Weathered Sphere Outdoor Water Feature ($374) but it’s hardly representative of the huge selection of fountains of different styles, materials, sizes and price points.
