I’ve been shopping for a perfect little gift for some friends of mine who recently moved into a new home and announced their much awaited engagement. They are both hip and stylish and artsy. In general I am a big fan of consumable gifts like food or wine or living gifts like plants or flowers. But some gift giving occasions call for something with a bit more staying power. I tend to send my clients gifts that are a bit more permanent, hoping that the item will continue to remind them of me and keep me in mind for future consulting projects. The same is often true of thank you gifts and hostess gifts; I want a gift that will stick around and remind the recipient of me and my gratitude. This approach only works if the gift is something lovely and practical enough that the recipient won’t re-gift me right out of their home or office. Coasters are a great option. Everyone needs them. Most people don’t have enough or don’t have nice coasters. I’ve both given and received coasters on numerous occasions and only have positive feedback to report.
