When sending a gift for a new baby, it’s always a good idea to send something for the new big brother or big sister, too. Toddlers and younger kids are likely not to understand the showering of gifts for the new arrival and can be a bit jealous. And they might be just a little bit bored, too. That’s why I like to give a gift that will engage a child’s attention – something fun and consuming like puzzles.
Mom and Dad appreciate it too. With a new baby in the house they’ve got their hands full. Having a few new and interesting puzzles on hand can be an absolute lifesaver. Just enough of a diversion to buy a few minutes of quiet time to do something else.

Now, this is one of the most ingeniously clever things that I’ve seen in a while. And such a simple idea. Yet positively brilliant. The Bahama Baby Blanket (from the oh so innovative Bahama Towel Company 
) has patented sewn-in feet so you can place baby in a car seat or stroller without having to unwrap the blanket. Like I said, brilliant!

I recently bought this trio of musical instruments for Little Guy’s third birthday. The saxophone, trumpet and clarinet in the Bontempi 3 piece combo are $14.99 at Kazoo Toys when purchased individually; save $1.50 on each musical instrument when you purchase all three as I just did. Little Guy is well on his way to becoming a one man band!
Hint: Their musical toys department does not seem to link to everything they actually stock. I found more options by using their search box.

I first learned about this site from Becky and some of her fellow teachers. Dick Blick Art Materials, one of the largest suppliers in the nation, has been supplying artists and teachers with high quality art supplies since 1911. The prices are excellent and the selection of products is overwhelming to say the least. They’ve got everything imaginable for kids’ art projects to the highest quality supplies for serious artistes.
This is a great place for children’s gifts – paint, paper and a tabletop easel makes for a much more interesting gift than a video game.
