Making a big batch of soup or stew in your slow cooker is a great idea – except that unless you’re feeding a crowd that soup or stew can get a bit boring.

Enter FoodSaver.com

But a home vacuum packaging system from x is practical and economical. These days more than ever we’re all trying to save money. Not wasting food is a great way to start.
And here are a few more ways to save…

It’s been snowing like crazy here just about all day long and shows no signs of stopping. I’m cold. I’m tired. I’m hungry. I don’t want to leave the house. And I’ll be hungry again tomorrow. And I won’t want to leave the house then, either. Such a dilemma…

Not really! I’m going to load up my Crock-pot
slow cooker before I go to bed tonight and by the time I wake up I’ll have a nice huge pot of delicious split pea soup waiting for me. And then I’m going to load it up again – with a hearty chili.
What could be easier? I may never leave the house again.
This time of year, I always rediscover my c with absolute delight – like a little kid on Christmas morning. If you don’t have one, you might want to consider picking one up for yourself. It’s a great thing to have, especially in the winter. And if you have a friend who doesn’t have one – a Crock-pot
makes a great gift.

Last night I cooked dinner for some friends. It sounds like a selfless act but I had an ulterior motive. Their baby, Dude, is now 6 weeks old and I wanted to come over and see the bath-time show! Anyway, I talked my way in with a delicious meal of maple/soy marinated salmon and rice noodles with bok choy and peapods. (Beware of natives bearing gifts, yes?)

Anyway, the salmon is something I’ve made a bunch of times before, but I stressed over it yesterday, not really remembering how much soy sauce relative to how much maple syrup. And then I had a flash thought that maybe I had actually used teriyaki or tamari and not soy sauce at all. It turned out great and we had a wonderful meal and Dude put on a terrific show. Then I nearly fell off my chair in laughter when I got an e-mail this morning that the Barefoot Contessa Pantry
maple teriaki sauce was a featured product this month at StonewallKitchen.com
. I don’t think I’ll ever worry about making my own marinade again – not when it comes in one simple package. It’s easier and it’s actually less expensive given the current price of a really good bottle of maple syrup.

Back in the day, a Lox Box was a pretty popular fundraising event in my neck of the woods. Usually for a youth group or sports league – the kids would take orders in the neighborhood and deliver a Sunday brunch box that included lox, bagels, cream cheese. Maybe a tomato and an onion. Maybe a Sunday Times. Maybe a few little tchatkes. Nothing in the box was particularly delicious – mostly packaged stuff from the supermarket. But it was a fun idea and certainly added a little something to the day on which it arrived. But I’m not talking about that kind of Lox Box right now.

TheLoxBox.com The World’s First Home Lox-Maker
I’m talking about a magical box that allows you to make your own smoked fish right in your kitchen. Thrill your family with gourmet lox. Amaze your friends. The LoxBox is the first and only home lox-maker. It’s foolproof, easy and economical. You can make delcious lox and other gourmet smoked fish for a fraction of the price you’d pay at the market or deli. At only $29.95 it will pay for itself in just a few uses. And it’s made to your own special taste. Lox from the LoxBox is both heart-healthy and anti-arthritic with high concentrations of anti-oxidant omega-3 fatty acids.

The LoxBox Home Lox Maker is also a terrific gift.

What would you say if you found out you could eat delicious gourmet meals at home, without the work? Sounds good. What if you could just heat those meals in your microwave and be dining on a delicious dinner in minutes? Sounds good, too. And what if those meals were healthy and nutritious? And what if you could create those meals to your own personal tastes – choosing your entree, vegetables and side dishes and exactly how your food is prepared? Sounds phenomenal, doesn’t it? And we’re not just talking broiled versus roasted, here. We’re talking about gourmet meals to suit just about any dietary restrictions or style preference. Diabetic meals. Meals for kids. Pregnancy meals. Low carb meals. Low sodium meals. Healthy meals. Meals to promote weight loss. And all of them are chef-prepared gourmet meals. Dine wisely with DineWise

It’s all possible – and for far less than you’d think it would cost. Especially when you can get as many as 12 meals for free with your purchase. That’s right – you many never cook again!

The gift of a delicious meal is the perfect thing for anyone who’s in the process of moving, having a new baby or going through another big life cycle event. If you’re too far away to bring over something you’ve cooked yourself, sending a heat and eat gourmet meal is the next best thing.

It doesn’t mean it’s not worth the trouble to cook. And there’s no need to cook single servings, either. Just cook up a batch of one of your favorites, and you can easily store away single servings to eat later. And all your foods can stay as fresh as they were the day you prepared them. For weeks and weeks!

I don’t know wny we don’t all have one of these systems.
