In general I am a big fan of consumable gifts like food or wine or living gifts like plants or flowers. But some gift giving occasions call for something with a bit more staying power. I tend to send my clients gifts that are a bit more permanent, hoping that the item will continue to remind them of me and keep me in mind for future consulting projects. The same is often true of thank you gifts and hostess gifts; I want a gift that will stick around and remind the recipient of me and my gratitude. This approach only works if the gift is something lovely and practical enough that the recipient won’t re-gift me right out of their home or office. Coasters are a great option. Everyone needs them.
