I spent most of the day yesterday shopping. Bricks and mortar shopping. I like to do that every once in a while – even though I actually really dislike shopping in stores unless I absolutely must OR am on vacation somewhere wonderful. Anyway, in order to be a savvy online shopper, it’s important to see what’s in the stores and to see what kind of sales there are.
Not much to report, actually. Lots of everything is on sale, of course. It is January, after all. The only thing I saw that rocked my world were some really lovely arty glass vases from Fitz and Floyd 
. They were on sale and I was very tempted. Something kept me from buying and for that I’m grateful. I surfed directly over to the source and what do you know – better selection and better prices. As usual. That’s what I get for leaving the house.
If you’re planning on gifting flowers for Valentine’s Day this year – or for any other occasion – consider kicking your gift up a notch with the gift of a beautiful glass vase. Sometimes it’s really hard to come up with a memorable wedding gift. This is particularly if the bride and groom are a bit older and better established – it’s not as if they need towels or a toaster anymore. And I think a really great wedding gift is memorable. Something just unusual enough that the happy couple will always remember where it came from yet not so unusual to be quirky or kitschy. I’ve been shopping for a perfect little gift for some friends of mine who recently moved into a new home and announced their much awaited engagement. They are both hip and stylish and artsy.
