Okay, I admit it. I’m a bit of a diva princess. I like fresh, crisp bed linens like in a hotel. And I like a nice pressed seam down the front of my jeans, too. Like I said – diva princess. I used to send all those things out to be professionally laundered, starched and pressed. I found it terribly expensive and over time it became clear that my clothes and linens were being subjected to some serious rough treatment. So I started doing it myself. And frankly, I’m tired of it. It takes way too long and while I used to find it relaxing I now find myself avoiding it at all costs. What am I going to do? Well, I’m certainly not going to return to spending over $100 a month to have it done for me. I’m going to bite the bullet and buy myself a serious steam press. I figure I’ll save myself several hours a week minimum.

I was at a party last weekend and a friend of mine came out with the following statement: I don’t have any pets, but I think I might be ready for a Roomba. How funny is that? I was in stitches! It seems like it’s been raining for 40 days and 40 nights and I’m feeling a bit like Noah. There’s standing water in the street, huge puddles and pools of water in other low spots and the ground is soggy, soggy, soggy. Lots of people have had major flooding in their homes; I’m lucky to have dodged that bullet so far, but my house is feeling damp, damp, damp. Sometimes I just get carried away. I did a top to bottom spring cleaning in my kitchen. I was a scrubbing maniac! I cleaned under, around and inside all of my appliances and just when I was rounding the home stretch, I did it. I yanked out the bottom shelf in the door of my side by side fridge and broke it. The brackets that attach the shelf to the door snapped off. All four of them.
